More than a year ago, a student of mine came to his first reiki circle where he met 3 fellow students for the first time. He shared this the following day, which I thought was striking:
“It was such a good group and I realized it was a completely new experience for me to get to know people primarily through touch. It was a very warm, loving and moving moment.”
Meeting new people typically starts with quick gestures like a wave or handshake (without thoughtful purpose) and only through communication will actual connection begin.
What makes reiki circles special is that you get to know strangers in depth relatively quickly. You spend meaningful time with your hands on their body, sharing your energy, and they do the same with you.
It is a very intimate experience (mostly done in silence during treatments) where you get to know and care about what is inside a person - what they are feeling and going through physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It is a time when everyone’s intuition comes alive to share feedback in a space created by everyone channeling the deep sense of love and care that the Reiki practice naturally brings.
Many of you have probably already been to a reiki circle, but did you know doing it by distance together also works the same? While you’re unlikely to be physically touched in this instance, you are touched energetically. Depending on how sensitive you are, it may really feel as if the group was truly beside you.
The setting is always right for a reiki circle so I say ‘touch me… if you can!’
